Michael Camu or “Kiko”, as everyone fondly calls him, was born on September 27, 1994 in Sta. Maria, Bulacan. He is a product of an illicit relationship of his already married mother. The affair happened while his mother was working in Manila away from her legal husband and two children who were in the province. The man who impregnated Kiko’s mother disappeared upon learning that she was pregnant.

Much to the regret of his biological mother, she could not keep him for fear of the disruption of her family. For the best interest of the child and her peace of mind, she signed a Deed of Voluntary Commitment and surrendered her child for adoption.

Michael was diagnosed to be a Downs Syndrome baby and was referred to Chosen Children for proper case management.

Michael was admitted to Chosen Children on August 21, 1995. He had a head circumference of 17 inches, weighed 8.1 kilograms and measured 28 inches in height. He has fair complexion, wide and slanting eyes, a flat nose, small low set ears, protruding abdomen, stubby fingers and toes and a single transverse crease on both hands. He has a mannerism of thrusting out his tongue and playing with it to produce sounds. Michael was baptized this month together with the other newly arrived children.

CHOSEN CHILDREN VILLAGE FOUNDATION is maintained solely through donations, sponsorships and grants and has a Board of Trustees whose members serve without compensation.
