NAME: Michelle Saavedra DOB: April 27, 1994 BIRTHPLACE: Quezon City Special Needs: Premature Closure of Fontanelle Michelle is a first-born child to a Chinese unmarried woman. She was born full term and was delivered by low forceps extraction. At birth she had meconium, which was treated by suctioning. An attempted abortion by her biological mother early in her pregnancy affected Michelle through the premature closure of her Fontanelle. This further reinforced her mother’s decision to give up her rights to Michelle because she is not prepared to attend to the needs of a special child. On May 10, 1994 Michelle was admitted to a children’s home who took care of her as much as they could but their limited facilities and the staff’s skill in handling a special child was hindering Michelle’s rehabilitation and development. The children’s home then referred Michelle to Chosen Children on July 21, 1994 for continuous proper case management. CHOSEN CHILDREN VILLAGE FOUNDATION is maintained solely through donations, sponsorships and grants and has a Board of Trustees whose members serve without compensation.
