For this LOVE month, we hope that you will open your hearts and make monetary donations towards the daily care and needs of 72 children with physical and mental challenges currently residing in the village.

All donations will be tallied at the end of the month. The donor with the highest cumulative donation for the month will enjoy a fine dining experience for two at Antonio’s Fine Dining. The recipient will be notified by email with dining details.

Geneva’s Mapanao Family Raises Funds for CCV

On June 27, 2020, the Mapanao Family launched “Vernissage,” a photography exhibition featuring the works of Bryan Rigg at their coffee shop, Viverra Coffee , in Geneva, Switzerland. All the proceeds of this showcase will benefit the Chosen Children Village Foundation, Inc. (CCV), an orphanage for disabled children in the Philippines.

The opening was attended by members of the local community, including Ambassador Evan Garcia .

Rigg is one of the members of the CCV Board of Trustees. His photographs feature the natural landscape of the Philippines as well as abstract subjects. One of his most popular prints is called “Water Lillies.” The photographs can also be printed as postcards, which buyers can give to their friends.

Chosen Children Village is a haven for abandoned, neglected, and surrendered children with physical and mental disabilities. It has been badly affected by the eruption of the Taal Volcano (a mere 8 kilometers away from the village) last January 12th. And although it remains free of the COVID-19 virus, the village’s financial situation is being impacted by the pandemic.

As such, the village would like to send their warmest thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Donnie & Maribel Mapanao, their children Abigayle & Alvin, Justin, Isabelle, and their grandson Aiden for generously sponsoring this exhibition. A special “Thank You” also goes out to Ms. Luz Caguioa for her unwavering support. Without your selfless work, this fundraising would not be possible.

Taal Relief & Evacuation Donors

We have hundreds of people and organizations to thank for their help during the evacuation and rehabilitation of the village in the aftermath of the Taal Volcano eruption.

First of all, we would like to express our sincerest gratitude to our Board of Trustees for their tireless work and strong leadership during this critical time in our history. They made sure that the children and staff have the funds they need for the seven weeks that they stayed in the City of Pines.

Also, they saw to it that the children had a village to return to last February 25th. They provided the tools and resources required for the clean-up and repair of the cottages and other facilities in the village.

Next, we’d like to thank our staff for going above and beyond the call of duty during this crisis. The 18 staff who accompanied our children in Baguio had to endure longer working hours in a smaller house to take care of our children. It was a huge challenge made worse by extreme weather conditions; the weather in Baguio was at its coldest during their stay there.

Meanwhile, our staff in Silang took care of the cleanup of the village and rehabilitation of the farm. It’s not easy work – the ashfall had to be swept and hosed daily so they do not harden and cause more damage. The land has to be cleaned, tilled and prepared for replanting while the animals needed taking care of. All in a day’s work!

Financial Donors

Thankful does not even begin what we feel right now. Our farm may have been depleted because of the Taal Volcano eruption but we had a bountiful harvest in another way. Around 300 people/organizations gave financial donations to our evacuation and recovery. YOU ARE ANGELS!

2019 Annual Sports Fest

The whole village always looks forward to summer because it’s that season of the year when the staff and the children team up and compete in a series of games designed to foster camaraderie and sportsmanship. This year was no different as 75 of our staff and residents spent 3 fun-filled days trying to outdo each other in:

Let’s Support The 2019 Crayfish Party Manila!

For the fourth year in a row, NordCham Philippines , in partnership with Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel and the Philippine Norway Business Council , is hosting Asia’s Biggest Viking Party for a Cause to benefit the Chosen Children Village.

Scheduled for September 14, 2019, Crayfish Party Manila promises to be another fun-filled celebration featuring Nordic delicacies and beverages. The Sofitel Garden Harbot Tent will be decorated in the Viking tradition and guests are encouraged to come in their best Viking attire.

As expected, Crayfish will be the highlight of the party menu and it will be flown especially from Norway for this event. Other mouthwatering dishes that will be served include Cod & Salmon Sailor’s Stew, Swedish Meatballs and Cured Herring Potato Salad.

To add merriment to this event, there will be a number of games and raffles during the party.

The history of the Crayfish Party

Eating Crayfish dates back to the reign of the Swedish King Erik XIV in the 16th century. It was said that the king farmed crayfish at the moat of his castle and these were served at a feast to celebrate the end of summer in Nordic countries, which is usually in August.

Selected youth from CCV attended the press conferences for the party. Isabel, Pinky and Charlie, represented the foundation on July 23rd, while Michael, Niño and Dave attended the July 25th launch.
